We design and fabricate freestanding 3D electrodes for green hydrogen production and aqueous zinc–air batteries, with a focus on performance and durability at ampere-scale current densities.
We work on three areas that share a common foundation in electrode architecture and interfacial engineering.
AEM water electrolysis음이온교환막 수전해
Nickel- and iron-based fibrous electrodes that replace precious metals and porous transport layers at the same time. We compress resilient sponges and wools directly into the membrane to form void-free, interlocked MEAs, and we test them where it matters: ampere-scale current, 80 °C, thousands of hours, on–off cycling. Our steel-wool anode brings the electrode cost below 5 USD per m².

Aqueous batteries, including zinc–air수계 배터리
Safe, water-based chemistries built for real form factors. We fabricate bifunctional air cathodes from carbon fabrics, aerogels and metal foams, pair them with dendrite-free zinc anodes, and assemble them into flexible, quasi-solid-state pouch cells that reach ampere-hour capacity, survive bending, and are cut to fit the device.

The manufacturing science underneath both applications. One-pot wet synthesis of nanofibrous metal sponges, oxidative corrosion of commodity metals, carbonization of biomass and textiles, dry-process electrode forming, and direct compression assembly — all aimed at electrodes that are freestanding, scalable to meters, and structured from nanometer to millimeter.

A new lab is the best time to join one. You will set up equipment, define the first projects, and publish early. We look for people who like to build things with their hands and then measure them carefully.
